Q. 300 J of work is done in sliding a 2 kg block up an inclined plane of height 10 m. Work done against friction is (Take g = 10 m/s22)

Aipmt /Neet 2006 | WPE Q 3 |Here a word is missing in the qus “Slowly “as we move the block up the incline the internal forces( Gravity & Friction ) of block-incline plane system will come in play but there will be no change in kinetic energy of block . Only then we can apply Work-Energy Theorem

Change in an object’s kinetic energy is equal to the net work done on the object. This is called Work Energy Theorem

 where we will take work done by all forces equal to zero. Since work done by gravity is independent of path we will write it down –mgh. So now only work done by Friction needs to be calculated. Before filling your choice keep in mind . Qus asked about , How much work has to be done against Friction not the work done by Friction.
