A block
of mass 10 kg is moving in x-direction with a constant speed of 10 m/s. It is
subjected to a retarding force F = 0.1x joule/metre during its travel from
x = 20 m to x = 30 m. Its final K.E. will be
Neet 2015 | W P E Q 2 |The
work-energy theorem, shows that the change DKE in a
body’s kinetic energy is equal to the net work done on it:
DKE = Wnet
here work will be done by a single variable force which is retarding in nature
so change in kinetic energy will be equal to
negative of work done by given variable force. This is the place you can
commit a mistake so beware . Rest of the qus is easy as from integration to the
given limit x 20 to x = 30 m we can
easily calculate negative work done. Initial kinetic energy can also be
calculated easily as info of initial velocity & mass is given. It’s a good qus having a mix
of variable force , negative work and change in kinetic energy.
