is hung from a ceiling and has force constant value k. The mass is released
from rest with the spring initially unstretched. The maximum extension produced
in the length of the spring will be

of all we need to think about the forces involved in this qus. Which are
gravity and spring force . No non-conservative force is present. . If we
consider position at natural length level of spring as initial and MAXIMUM
Elongation as final then we can apply work energy theorem . Change in an object’s kinetic energy is
equal to the net work done on the object. There will be no Work done by
external and non-conservative forces.
