Q. A particle of mass m1 is moving with a velocity v1 and another particle of mass m2 is moving with a velocity v2 Both of them have the same momentum but their
different kinetic energies are E1 and E2 respectively. If m1>m2, then
Aipmt Neet 2004 | WPE Q 4 | Here we have to use the simple relation between
Kinetic energy & linear momentum. Kinetic Energy
(a) The energy possessed by a body by virtue of its motion is called
kinetic energy
(b) If a body of mass m is moving with velocity v, its kinetic energy
K.E = 1/2 mv2 , for translatory motion
(c) Kinetic energy is always positive
(d) If linear momentum of body is p, K.E = p2 /2m=1/2mv2 = for translatory motion.
It
is given that both masses have same momentum , which means while comparing
their Kinetic energies , only their masses will be compared.
